About Croquet

Croquet is aptly described as ‘snooker on grass’ - each player has two balls and the object is to get your two balls twice round the hoops using strategy and tactics to place your balls in the right position and out manoeuvre your opponent.

Each player takes turns which consist of either getting a ball through a hoop, or hitting another ball which allows a second shot using both balls (the ‘croquet’ shot) and then another shot to either go through a hoop or hit another ball - you can only hit the other balls once before you have to go through (’run’) a hoop again.

Two essential sites for croquet are:
The Croquet Association
Oxford Croquet
